This is a story I wrote when I needed an escape. It is a way I was able to think of whatever is pure and lovely and also what it says in Colossians 3:1-2,”If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”
I am in a beautiful lush meadow with Jesus, my family, my friends, and angels. The one I’m most mesmerized by is Jesus because he is the love of my life. He is shining brighter than the sun but He’s miraculously not unbearable to look at. I can’t take my eyes off of him. The beauty that is in the meadow is not worth comparing to Him.
The beautiful yellow, red, blue, white and violet flowers that are in the meadow invite little hummingbirds and bees that have not interest in stinging me. Baby animals with their mothers play joyfully in the meadow. There are baby fawns, rabbits, bear cubs, mountain lion cubs, hedgehogs, horses with their colts and puppies. More animals are coming out of the forest to see Jesus.
Angels are standing on the borders of the meadow singing praises to my Holy God. Their voices are so happy yet so powerful and beautiful that it gives me chills. It makes me wonder how glorious God is that they worship Him like this. The angel’s great joy is matching my joy as I bow down in front of Jesus who is in the center of the meadow.
Then he tells me to walk with him and I get up and we talk about the most amazing things that keep us both grinning and laughing. Jesus’ laugh is very contagious. As we walk, he shows me the beauty of the meadow and beyond as we walk into the forest. It’s beautiful it’s jawdropping but all the while I’m focused on Jesus. He is more beautiful than the roaring waterfall he takes me to that is so tall it seems to be pouring out of the heavens.
Jesus gives me perfect peace and the places we’re hiking to are my favorite. He is pointing out all the things in God’s creation that I love like evergreen trees, ferns, flowers, big inviting rocks and gigantic trees that are so tall there’s no end in sight just like the waterfall. Jesus smiles and his eyes sparkle as he says with more power and joy than the angel’s voices.
“My Father is bigger. He is your Father too and He is so proud of you. He loves you more than the seven wonders of the world. Do not fear or fret in anything, I am with you always and I am your light and freedom. You are dead to sin and alive in me because I defeated the sin you have dealt with. Trust me like you trusted the parachute while paragliding in Albania and give it all to me, because I took it upon me on the cross. It is done, just abide in me. I am your strength. Come alive in me and tell the world about me with the joy I have givien you. Be your spunky, goofy, loving and humble self for that is how your Father made you. You are amazing! I and the Father love you so much and are cheering you on as you follow me and love me with your whole heart. I am leading you through this life until I bring you home which I know you’ve been longing for. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations. People need me just as much as you need me. Love them with my love. I am with you in Armenia and will be with you in Turkey, Jordan, Kyrgystan, and India.”
