Jesus’s last words before ascending to heaven are a big reason why I am going on World Race!
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
I wanted to take a great leap of faith and go God’s way so I signed up for the World Race. God opening this door for me will give me a chance to love people and not be selfish by spreading the gospel in all the countries my squad and I will be going to! I want people to know that Jesus is the Savior of the world and the only way to eternal life. Jesus is my hope. I want the hopeless to receive him so that they can have hope too. Although I prayed before deciding to go on World Race and made sure it was a calling from God, it was an easy decision for me to make. It may have something to do with my adventure side kicking in or because I knew without a doubt that this is what God wanted me to do.
Even before World Race came into the picture, I knew I wanted to do missions. God was my strength in high school and he gave me boldness to be a light in my public school. After I graduated in 2019, I went to community college and was able to have a normal and fun first semester of college. Then 2020 came and I had to do college online and I hated it. I felt isolated from people and I knew I had to get connected with other Christians. That’s when God directed me to a 5 month mission training school called Global Frontier Missions in January 2021. I was not only with other believers but I also had the opportunity to do 12 hours of ministry with internationals every week. I am not the same person I was before I went to the school. During this time, God revealed so much of his truth to me. It was unbelievable! All the lies about who I thought I was were utterly destroyed. God changed me and called me to love the people in this world. It was truly a great experience that made my faith so much stronger. I also made some really cool Jesus abiding friends who went to the school with me! World Race is the next step!
These lyrics from the song Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) which I learned to jam to on the piano, is words the Holy Spirit has been encouraging me with as I prepare to go on World Race and as I walk through life.
“Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior”
